Welcome to Word 2003! I hope you will enjoy learning
about Word Processing in this class. This is where it all begins. Communicating
through the written word is one of the most important uses of technology.
Being able to do this effectively and creatively can be very rewarding.
Microsoft's two main products are Windows, which is an Operating
System, and the Office Products, which include Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Access, and Outlook. Some versions of Office also come with Publisher.
We will be using Word 2003. There has been a recent release of Word 2007
which looks quite different than its earlier versions. The basics have
always been the same. The following are a few things you should already
know how to do:
- Start up your computer
- Use the left and right mouse buttons. Left-click to make something
happen; right-click to see what options are available
- Start up programs using icons on the desktop AND the Start
menu
- Locate the keyboard-note the Shift, Crtl, Spacebar,
Caps Lock, Tab, Enter or Return, Delete,
Backspace, arrow and Esc keys
- Motivation to search and read about what you are interested in
- Willingness to EXPLORE and NOT be afraid of technology-it
will not blow up!!!
Materials you may need
- Notebook and pencil or pen
- Headphones
***Please put cell phones on vibrate or turn
off during class***
