Revised Certified Staff Technology Competency Requirements

The Lexington School District One Teacher Technology Competency Assessment for newly hired certified staff will be revised beginning in the 2009-2010 school year. This revision will align the district’s required technology competencies with the State Department of Education’s required level of competency. The new assessment will assure that teachers meet the State Department of Education’s required level within the first two years of employment. The new assessment will be divided into two parts (Part A and Part B.) Part A will be the current TTCA, Essential Level 1 and will be successfully completed by all certified staff during the first year of employment with Lexington County School District One. Part B will include the current TTCA, Expected Level 2 and will be completed by all certified staff before the end of the second year of employment with Lexington County School District One. The employee will then begin a cycle for technology certification which will be aligned to the teacher certificate expiration date.

All current certified staff must complete Lexington School District One’s TTCA Expected Level 2 by June 30, 2011 in order to meet the State Department of Education’s required level of competency. The Lexington School District One requirements will be waived for any new certified employee who documents Level 3 status on the State Department of Education’s ePortfolio System beginning in the 2009-2010 school year.
