Information Support ServicesISS1E - Computer Maintenance and Upgrading This module provides students with manipulative skills as they perform a series of real-life maintenance and upgrading exercises on a fully-functional PC. Typical exploratory topic areas include: Investigating the evolution of computers, selecting storage tapes, disks and drives, and expanding the computer system. ISS2E - Computer Troubleshooting Students use a 'virtual' computer troubleshooting system to learn logical troubleshooting procedures for PC systems. Typical exploratory topic areas include: Troubleshooting methodology, preventive maintenance, and hardware and software compatibility. ISS3E - Investigating Computers This module provides students with an in-depth exploration of how computer systems work. It is designed to address the underpinning knowledge requirements for the CompTIA A+ test. Typical exploratory topic areas include: Comparison of different operating systems, Windows file management, and using user profiles. ISS4E - Electronics Technology This hands-on module provides students with the skills needed to understand both analog and digital electronic circuits and perform troubleshooting using electronics test equipment. Typical exploratory topic areas include: Measuring voltage, current and resistance using a multimeter, integrated circuits, and virtual instrument oscilloscope and meter.
