Education,
Technology,
Educational Technology,
Technology Education...

I love to teach and I love technology. Learning to use technology can be very helpful in education. Learning about technology can be very rewarding. This may not be for everyone. But I have an interest in it as a hobby, art, or whatever you want to call it. That is what this site is about--the techno-enthusiasts who love hi-tech and love to teach it too! I have heard this concept referred to as "OMNI TECH". I like that!

I am the Technology Integration Specialist at Pelion Middle School in South Carolina, USA. As a TIS, I am responsible for helping teachers use technology in the classroom. My main goal is to help teachers teach more effectively, when appropriate, using technology. It is not a matter of "How can we throw some technology in there?" but "How can we best teach a concept?" If technology will help--GREAT! If not, then a more traditional approach may still be the best method.

Technology can be a great motivator too! Some students WILL respond better to a multimedia presentation (No that does NOT necessarily mean PowerPoint!) than a lecture. I believe in using multi-sensory, multi-discipline project-based instruction. With this approach, you can target specific standards, but also obtain collaterall learning that is many times not measurable. Logic and problem solving are great examples of the "extras" you get from using technology.
